Overview
Under general supervision, oversees and participates in the operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant.
Essential Functions
Supports 24/7 operations. Oversees the operation and routine maintenance of process and support areas; Monitors, initiates and directs adjustments to plant processes and equipment both manually and through process control systems including remote facilities; adjusts plant processes as indicated by laboratory tests; takes samples of wastewater and other process flows; performs basic wastewater laboratory analysis; cleans plant process areas and equipment; maintains records and prepares reports; directs Treatment Plant Operator Trainees and Treatment Plant Operators to investigate and correct process control problems; assists in training operators; assists plant's trades employees; required to fill-in for Team Leaders at the Treatment Plant.
Additional Responsibilities
Performs related work as required or as delegated by Team Leaders and Supervisor.

Training And Experience
Graduation from high school or equivalent and possess or obtain a Missouri Class "A" wastewater treatment operator's license within 6 months of placement in this position.
Desirable Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Thorough knowledge of the operation and maintenance of electrical and mechanical wastewater treatment plant equipment; considerable knowledge of safe working practices; ability to make accurate readings; ability to understand and record information on charts and meters; ability to lead and oversee the work of others; ability to maintain records and prepare reports.
Special Requirement
Must possess or obtain a Missouri Class "A" wastewater treatment operator's license within 6 months of placement in this position.
Must possess a valid driver's license by the state in which the employee resides.
Pursuant to MSD's "Substance Abuse Policy and Procedures", this position has been designated as safety sensitive and candidate must pass a Non-D.O.T. Drug Test for this position. Employees occupying this position are not subject to Federal (D.O.T.) Drug and Alcohol Testing Regulations.
Employees of MSD must have a meets expectations.
