What are the responsibilities and job description for the Warehouse Technician position at Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District?
Overview
Under general supervision, assists in the operation of the District's Warehousing facilities.
Essential Functions:
Assist in the purchase, storage and distribution of materials and supplies; assist in the loading and unloading of procured materials using District's material handling equipment; meet with suppliers; consult with District personnel to investigate parts, manufacturers, suppliers and to recommend those most desirable; maintain and update inventory records utilizing the District's Inventory Control and Purchasing systems; assist in investigating inventory transaction anomalies; prepare item replenishment reports; procure items and services utilizing District's Procurement system; check shipments and delivery schedules; assist District personnel with purchasing issues; arrange for or negotiate exchanges of damaged goods; occasionally be required to pick up material using District vehicles.
Additional Responsibilities:
Perform related work as required or as delegated by supervisor.

Qualifications
Training and Experience:
- Graduation from high school or equivalent AND three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in warehouse operations, with preferred experience in purchasing utilizing computer-based software and a variety of material handling equipment.
- Must possess a valid driver's license issued by the state in which the employee resides.
Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Good knowledge of the practices and procedures used in purchasing, receipt and warehousing of materials and equipment for a large organization; skill in analyzing market and delivery conditions; knowledge of the principles and practices of inventory management and control; skill in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with suppliers, District personnel, and others; skill in communicating effectively both in oral and written form; skill in maintaining records and preparing reports; ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks; proficient skill in using computer based software; ability to use a variety of material handling equipment.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Pursuant to MSD's "Substance Abuse Policy and Procedures," this position has been designated as safety-sensitive and candidate must pass a Non-D.O.T. Drug Test for this position. Employees occupying this position are not subject to Federal (D.O.T.) Drug and Alcohol Testing Regulations.
Employees of MSD must have a "Meets Expectations" on their current performance evaluation.
