Basic Function
Provides functional direction, supervision, and coordination of staff and storeroom activities for Running Repair and Major Inspection Shops. Activities include : shipping, transfer, receipt, issue and stock of parts / materials required by the Maintenance Group. Responsible for analyzing inventory requirements to maximize customer service and control METRO’s inventory investment. Establishes systems and procedures; assists with Master Production Schedule, develops and analyzes Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) reports. Performs duties in a safe, efficient manner and in compliance with all applicable rules and safety procedures.
Responsibilities and Specific Duties
- Provides primary managerial direction and performs personnel administrative functions of direct report staff (e.g. training, supervising, work assignments, timesheets, performance evaluations, etc.) for maintaining necessary staffing, enhancing productivity of staff and ensuring necessary department outcomes are achieved.
- Coordinates work assignments and assists in establishing work plans and objectives.
- Trains / cross-trains employees to ensure each attendant understands job responsibilities, procedures, materials and systems planning.
- Assists in projecting future manpower needs and utilization.
- Maintains communication with employees to keep personnel aware of department practices and goals.
- Utilizes personnel to keep over-time to a minimum.
- Maintains accurate Storeroom records and material handling procedures for both current and future needs.
- Maintains surveillance over accumulation and floor stock activities.
- Establishes material movements at the lowest rate for prompt delivery to the customer.
- Analyzes material movement to maintain the most efficient methods of stock issuance.
- Responsible for maintaining Storeroom shop vehicles and equipment.
- Coordinates scheduling activities with management and functional staff in the areas of forecasts, quality control and customer service.
- Manages all fuel and fluid products, schedules deliveries, monitors receipts, and maintains accurate records.
- Maintains a synchronized flow of materials and critical components.
- Monitors inventory levels and analyzes performance indicators.
- Evaluates inventory for inactivity and obsolescence.
- Prepares status reports and production performance reports (actual vs. planned performance.)
- Assists with cycle counting and annual physical inventories.
- Provides excellent customer service to METRO internal and external customers.
- Applies SMS (Safety Management System) methods and principles in daily routine and supports all aspects of the agency’s Public Transportation Agency Safety Plan (PTASP).
- Promotes safety awareness and follows safety procedures to reduce or eliminate accidents.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Pay Range : $60,800 - $79,700
Education Requirement
High school diploma or GED is required
Years & Experience Required
Minimum five (5) years’ experience with shipping, receiving, material handling, warehousing, and distribution functions; including three (3) years supervisory experience
Knowledge & Skills Required
Working knowledge of computers and related software to include : Inventory Systems, MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.). Good decision making, organization and communication (verbal and written) skills. Knowledge of labor relations / union agreements and related procedures. General knowledge and use of parts manuals. Ability to establish effective working relationships with superiors, peers, subordinates, and external suppliers is essential to completion of job duties.
Salary : $60,800 - $79,700
