Compensation: $103,721 - $146,827 (Grade C, 677 Hay Points)
Summary:
This incumbent will be responsible for the following:
Manage the 24/7 Electronic Security Systems (ESS), ensuring appropriate and secure access to all the buildings on MTA Bus Property to project personnel and assets. Responsible for system configuration and programming for MTA Bus ESS including, but not limited to, access level modifications, deactivating lost/stolen cards, trouble-shooting reported access issues, ESS sensor naming conventions and performing daily system health checks.
Provide expert advice on installations for ESS, construction, and renovation projects on MTA Bus depots. Provide support for the CCTV system, coordinate surveys, design efforts, installations, maintenance and repairs of cameras and ESS equipment. May be required to assist in the development of security initiative requirements, design, creating a scope of work and determining deliverables. Assist with the researching, developing, designing, and testing a variety of equipment, components, products, and systems with the goal of optimizing and leveraging security investments.
Evaluate, maintain, test and periodically audit the ESS (e.g. access control, video, alarms, license plate recognition, security interfaces and security devices).
Develop and provide ESS training for all users of the electronic security system. Design and implement an ongoing ESS training program for all security personnel. Assist with the development and deploying of training materials and programs of all users of electronic security systems. The incumbent will be on call 24X7 and respond to major emergencies and handles ESS issues as necessary.
Serve as the Video Custodian, managing the production, control, archiving and tracking of all video data, internally and externally. Perform video investigations and data retrieval as needed for security, safety, criminal and operational investigations.
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Assistant Chief Officer, Security.
Education and Experience:
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in Security Administration, Information Systems, or a closely related field and ten (10) years of full-time, paid, related experience, and at least five (5) years of which must have been in a managerial/supervisory/administrative capacity; or
A satisfactory equivalent of education and/or experience.
DESIRED SKILLS:
- Proficiency in in Microsoft Windows based operating systems and conventions.
- Experience in administering and supporting computer hardware, software and related products.
- Knowledge of video management systems, security cameras and video technologies.
- Knowledge of access control and intrusion detection systems.
- Certification in access control and/or video management systems.
- Knowledge of physical security systems, security hardware and software.
- Familiarity with security system installations and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of general networking concepts such as LAN, routing, firewalls, routers, switches and VLAN’s.
- Exhibits ability to clearly state goals and outline strategic plans for achieving goals.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a complex, unionized operating and administrative environment with a large employee population.
- Demonstrates a creative mind-set.
- Excellent analytical, oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to interface effectively with senior management, staff and MTA affiliates and external organizations.
- Ability to respond to any MTA Bus location on a 24/7 basis when required.
- Ability to work flexible schedule what may include evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Valid driver license with no restriction in the State of New York.
