The Project Management Trainee - Project Controls is an entry-level training position, responsible to assist with Capital Program project controls support in the LIRR Operational Support Group (OSG). Working with seasoned Managers, the Trainee will receive on the job training to develop required skills. Learning the Railroad's work environment and job functions are unique and challenging. The Trainee will learn, in a mentoring environment, to apply his / her knowledge with the specialized requirements of the railroad industry. This will introduce the trainee to the Railroad and its various operating and support departments. The position will provide support to the Manager-Project Controls as required. The program will be one to two years in duration. Upon successful completion of the Training Program, the Trainee will be appropriately placed into an entry-level position in the Project Controls group.

In addition to meeting the minimum requirements of the position, the selection process may include, but is not limited to a pre-screening assessment (i.e., physical, written and / or practical evaluation) and interview. Candidates forfeit further consideration in the process if they fail to participate in any step of the process when scheduled. Make up dates / times will not be given. In addition, LIRR employee applicants must be in their current position for the 12 months immediately preceding the close date of this posting and must possess a satisfactory work history, including attendance and discipline record. A record of more than ten sick days without medical documentation in two of the last three years is considered unsatisfactory attendance. Not all qualified applicants are guaranteed an interview due to the competitive selection process. A background investigation, medical examination, and safety sensitive drug / alcohol test may also be required.
