Responsibilities:
The Special Inspector (Assistant Chief) will be responsible for maintaining security services at all NYC Transit Shops/ Yards/Depots/Facilities and Locations managing Transit Property Protection Agents (TPPA’s) and Tranis Property Protection Supervisors (TPPS) to ensure all security posts are adequately covered. This individual will have a variety of assignments, including security supervisory management, sensitive and confidential investigations, coordination surveillance work, identification of vulnerabilities and their mitigation strategies, and the efficient deployment of personnel and assets. In addition, the selected candidate will respond to security incidents in the field and provides timely communications to senior management.
The Special Inspector (Assistant Chief) will be required to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays. The selected candidate will be required to drive a NYC Transit vehicle and will also be required to work under adverse conditions, e.g. in subway tunnels, platforms, train yards, depots, and street level bus stops.
Education and Experience:
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and five (5) years of full-time experience as an investigator, of which one (1) year must have been as an investigator in the field, or
A satisfactory equivalent of education and/or experience.
Desired Skills:
- An Associate degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college.
- Fifteen years of experience in Security Management, Law Enforcement, and/or Counter Terrorism/Intelligence, Military Police/Intelligence or enforcement capacity is preferable. (Transit Security is considered highly desired.)
- Ten years of experience in supervising and/or managing Security, Military Police, Intelligence, Law Enforcement, or enforcement personnel.
- Knowledge of CCTV Camera Surveillance System Monitoring.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Problem-solving and logistical skills relating to security/property protection enforcement.
- Strong understanding of Microsoft Office Applications.
