Metropolitan Veterinary Specialists & Emergency Service is seeking a Crematory and Surgical Instrument Assistant. This is a unique opportunity for an entry level person interested in gaining experience working with veterinary surgery and patient aftercare teams.
This is an entry level position, split between two departments, mornings as a crematory assistant and afternoon as aa surgical instrument preparation assistant. The ideal candidate will be a dependable person who is able work independently upon completion of initial 90 day training, is detailed oriented plus demonstrates the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
The instrument preparation assistant position involves cleaning, packing and sterilize instruments for surgical and various other teams. Responsibilities include ensuring equipment used by these teams is cleaned and sterilized in a timely and concise manner. Other duties include sanitizing various equipment and supplies, turning over surgery rooms, and general cleaning to ensure appropriate disinfecting and sterilization. This position utilizes washing, steam, gas, chemical, and ultrasonic systems to sterilize equipment.
The crematory assistant position works under the crematory manager position. Responsibilities include assisting in the processing and packaging of pet remains, preparing paw prints, client communication and general maintenance/cleaning of the crematory itself.
Upon hiring new team members in this position are required to successfully complete specific safety and operating training.
Position Requirements:
Education: High school diploma or GED/equivalent is required.
Physical: Must be able to stand for long periods of time, lift 50 lbs or more with assistance, and work with steam (autoclave) and gas sterilizers.
