The District:
The Metropolitan Water District of Salt Lake & Sandy (District) was established in 1935 by the Salt Lake City Commission. The District's primary function is to provide high quality drinking water for our member cities, Salt Lake City and Sandy City, by creating a firm water supply.
The Position:
The District is seeking a full-time Field Inspector to help in supporting our mission of providing high quality drinking water while ensuring the integrity of District easement and rights-of-way. As a Field Inspector, you will:
- Work in the Field: Spend your days traveling across Salt Lake, Utah, and Wasatch counties, conducting inspections and ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Enjoy Autonomy: You’ll have the freedom to manage your own schedule and be trusted to make decisions on the go, with minimal supervision.
- Engage with the Community: Interact directly with the public and contractors to ensure projects are on track and as described.
- Team Environment: Work with others to build positive relationships, collaborate effectively, and clearly share information.
What We’re Looking For:
- A self-starter who enjoys working independently and has great attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, especially when working with contractors and the public.
- Ability to stay organized and manage multiple inspections on the go.
- A valid driver’s license and a passion for driving and exploring.
In this full-time position, you will participate in on-call duties. Starting pay is $25.18 - $30.00/hour depending on experience.

Requirements:Minimum Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. At least two years underground utilities construction or inspection experience preferred.
Requirements: Valid Utah Driver’s License.
