What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Grounds Worker position at Metropolitan Water District of Salt Lake & Sandy?
The District is looking for seasonal part-time or full-time Grounds Workers to help maintain our facilities over the summer. Candidates must be 16 years of age or older. Pay starts at a minimum of $17.75 per hour depending on experience.

Summary Statement of Overall Purpose/Goal of Position:
Under the general supervision and direction of the Facilities Supervisor, performs building and grounds maintenance work of Metro Water facilities. This is a temporary position on a seasonal basis and the work assigned is on an intermittent and/or irregular basis.
Essential Duties:
- Maintains lawns and grounds to present a professional image of Metro Water property.
- Cleans trash and debris from grounds to maintain appropriate appearance of Metro Water grounds.
- Operates equipment such as lawn mower, weed and hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, and tillers.
Marginal Duties:
- Provides backup to other Maintenance Department employees as needed.
- Supports other departments as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements: Knowledge of general safety measures and guidelines related to water utility and construction environments. Knowledge of tools and small equipment used in grounds maintenance. Ability to follow verbal instructions. High school diploma or equivalent education preferred. Valid Utah Driver's License.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, drive, climb, kneel, reach with hands/arms, grasp, push, talk, and hear.
The employee is required to have clarity of vision at 20 feet or more and 20 inches or less.
The employee must lift weight or exert force as follows:
- Regularly (over 70% of the time): 1 to 75 pounds
- Occasionally (15% to 40% of the time): 76 to 100 pounds
Working Environment: Regular exposure to fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, vibration, work near moving mechanical parts, and very loud noises. Frequently required to wear ear protection and eye protection. Rarely required to wear a respirator. Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, bio-hazardous materials, and wet-humid conditions (non-weather). Rarely exposed to risk of electrical shock, high/dangerous places, hazardous traffic conditions or work in confined spaces.
