The Metropolitan Water District's Water System Operations Group has one opening for Instrumentation & Control Technician I located at the Jensen Treatment Facility (Granada Hills, CA).

This recruitment will be used to build an Eligibility List. This list will be valid for 6 months from the date a candidate accepts the position.

As an Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Technician I, you will develop proficiency and assist journey-level technicians with a wide variety of I&C tasks. These tasks include the installation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electronic equipment such as pressure transducers, flowmeters, position transmitters, level sensors, motor-operated valves, power supplies, workstation displays, signal indicators, wireless data links, local-area network distribution, wide-area network data terminals, life safety equipment, gaseous ambient leak detection systems, voice-over-IP telephone systems, supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems, programmable logic controllers, public address systems, audio-visual presentation systems, safety monitoring and alarm annunciation equipment, security surveillance systems, and energy management devices.

In this role, you also assist and perform the installation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of regulatory instrumentation including turbidimeters, chlorine analyzers, ammonia analyzers, particle counters, pH analyzers, temperature sensors, ozone residual / concentration analyzers, dissolved oxygen analyzers, conductivity probes, and other water-constituent monitoring systems. Tasks are carried out both in a treatment plant environment and in District distribution facilities throughout the MWD service area. This position will perform other related job duties as required.

Schedule : 4 / 10 (Monday - Thursday 6 : 00am - 4 : 30pm)

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or high school equivalency certificate and completion of 15 semester units in electronics from an accredited college, university, vocational, or military school

Employees in this position may be required to obtain and maintain the following certifications, licensing, and registrations :

Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
