What are the responsibilities and job description for the Survey and Mapping Technician I position at Metropolitan Water District of Southern California?
The Survey and Mapping Technician I is an entry level position where you will learn to apply basic skills in procedures, operations, techniques, tools, materials, and equipment appropriate to areas of specialization.
As a Survey and Mapping Technician I, you learn and assist with supporting surveyors in measuring pipelines, facilities, and properties. You will utilize surveying techniques, tools, equipment to make measurements, analyze data, interpret results, and assist with survey projects. You will work alongside senior survey staff to learn and assist in performing field surveys, such as, topographic surveys, construction surveys, pipeline and right-of-way staking, 3D surveying (laser scanning), etc.
Schedule : 44 / 36, Monday through Friday, Every other Friday off.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience :
A high school diploma or certificate of High School equivalency and two years of progressively increasing responsibility work experience in field and / or office survey work; or Associate's degree from an accredited college or university.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS :
Employees in this position may be required to obtain and maintain the following certifications, licensing and registrations :
License(s) :
Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
