Paid Interns
Paid interns are limited to 119 working days per calendar year and receive $18.00 per hour.

Eligibility Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a degree-seeking program in an accredited college or university and will be enrolled in the 2025/2026 school year.
- Permanent residency within the territorial boundaries of the MWRD (students may attend school outside the territorial boundaries).
- You must be a citizen or national of the United States, or an individual who is otherwise legally authorized to work in the United States.

Description:
The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (MWRD) is seeking an Intern to serve under a Senior Architect/Principal Architect.
Duties shall include:
- Perform work on architectural plans and details and check plans against specifications.
- Prepare and review architectural plans, including layouts and drawings, adhering to departmental CAD standards and templates.
- Develop and verify detailed architectural technical specifications, referencing guideline specifications, manufacturer resources, and industry best practices.
- Generate and validate cost estimates and design calculations for architectural components of projects using cost estimating software and EXCEL spreadsheet standards.
- Communicate effectively with staff members, manufacturers, and vendors.
- Conduct field inspections of existing conditions, including compiling reports, taking photographs, and obtaining measurements.
- Maintain the architectural technical library, including samples, reference documentation, and resources.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university academic program majoring in architecture or architectural engineering.
- Proficient knowledge with computer software programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, Auto Desk, AutoCAD, and 2D.
- Minimally completed 3 years of 4/5 year degree program.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail and good organizational skills.

- Applicants must be a current college student seeking a degree in architecture or architectural Engineering.
