POSITION SUMMARY:
The full time Assistant Aquatics Director will be responsible for assisting in the administration of aquatics programs and policies at the Framingham MetroWest YMCA branch. Under the direction of the Senior Aquatics Director works collaboratively with the Aquatics staff team to support optimal safety standards at all times. This position will play a key role in community and member relations. Supports Framingham Branch marketing strategies. Competitive salary and benefits! CORE EXPECTATIONS:
1. PROGRAM MANAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT
Provides administrative support for instructional programs as directed. Provides a minimum of 20 hours per week of direct program delivery to include teaching and lifeguarding, weekday and weekends. May assist in program guide development and posting of pool schedule.
2. STAFF ENGAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT
Provides direct leadership and supervision to Aquatics staff team as directed. Is responsible for onboarding and training of guards and swim instructors. Supports strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Participates in leading regular in-service training and drills for guards and instructors.
3. MEMBERSHIP ENGAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT
Creates a welcoming member-focused culture and models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. Fosters a climate of innovation and resolves problems to ensure member satisfaction. Builds relationships with and among members, responds to inquiries and solves problems. Creates a safe and supportive community environment, assists in recruiting and engaging new members, and connects members to the YMCA’s cause.
4. BUDGET & FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
May assist in preparing or submitting payroll. Assists in monitoring of programs to meet fiscal objectives. Monitors activity level in pool vs staff ratios to ensure proper distribution of staff resources.
5. FACILITY MANAGEMENT
Works with Facilities staff to provide program facilities for members that are safe, clean, adequately equipped, well maintained, and attractive. Conducts and ensures proper maintenance of pools. Secures and schedules pool facilities. Maintains accurate records of pool chemical levels and facility maintenance. Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations including maintaining safe ratios of guards and be available on an “on call” basis as required.
6. VOLUNTEER DEVELOPMENT
Builds and develops volunteer capacity, sharing the social responsibility
7. COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT & SUPPORT
Assists in YMCA fund raising activities/events, and engages in collaborative relationships with community organizations in order to strengthen support and build community.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor's degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. CPR for Professional Rescuer, First Aid, AED, Oxygen, Lifeguard, and YMCA Swim Instructor or equivalent.
3. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments
of the community.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Sufficient strength, agility, mobility and swimming ability to perform essential functions of position. Must be able to see, speak and hear, and be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
