POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Executive Director Outdoor Center and the Camp Director, and in accordance with MetroWest YMCA Association policies, the General Maintenance and Cleaning worker (Seasonal Summer Camp Facilities Maintenance) (18 years or older) will assist in the maintenance and upkeep of equipment and grounds at designated YMCA facilities in Hopkinton, Framingham and possibly other sites.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Performs grounds maintenance to ensure timely and proper completion including but not limited to grass cutting, landscaping and general exterior maintenance to assure the highest standards of appearance and safety are maintained.
· Maintain facilities and equipment including proper cleaning or storage after the completion of a task.
· Performs light maintenance such as painting, carpentry, basic repairs, changing light bulbs, annual pool cleaning and preventative maintenance.
· Assess needs, troubleshoot situations, and assist with problem solving, reporting all problems and concerns to supervisor on a timely basis for evaluation.
· Assists with room set up (tables, chairs, and other equipment for meeting rooms and program areas).
· Responds to requests for cleanup of spills and accidents (including bodily fluids) throughout the facility, using proper procedures and techniques to ensure personal safety and the safety of others.
· Responsible for strict adherence to all MetroWest YMCA policies and procedures related to safety, rules and other regulations.
· Performs other duties as requested or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Must be 18 years of age or older and have a high school diploma or GED.
· Knowledge of the safe operation of standard landscaping equipment and other tools.
· Requires ability to work independently after being given initial instruction.
· Requires the ability to effectively communicate in a positive and professional manner with members, supervisors and co-workers.
· Position requires a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
· Must possess reliable transportation for regular travel to various locations.
· Must complete mandatory online training prior to hire.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
· Constantly moves about for extended periods of time positioning self to access various areas.
· Regularly handles, adjusts or controls various tools and equipment.
· Requires ability to thoroughly inspect, detect and assess appearance, function and condition of equipment, buildings and grounds.
· Frequently ascends and descends stairs and ladders.
· Must have ability to lift, transport and stack supplies, furniture and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
· Work is performed indoors and outdoors and while performing the duties of the job may include exposure to weather conditions prevalent at the time.
· Regularly exposed to dust, dirt, cleaning products, chemicals and solvents.
