POSITION SUMMARY:
The Volunteer Coordinator, under the guidance of the Branch Director of Operations, the Volunteer Coordinator plays a vital role in engaging community members, strengthening program support, and fostering a culture of service within the organization. This position is responsible for working with Branch leadership to identify volunteer opportunities, utilizing the volunteer management system to announce, recruit, and place volunteers in appropriate roles, and supporting the intake and onboarding process.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Work with Branch Leadership (Program Directors, Branch Director of Operations, Program Coordinators) to identify volunteer opportunities within each branch and/or department (including the volunteer category and the requirements for each opportunity).
- Post volunteer opportunities to management software and/or website.
- Manage volunteer paperwork and screening
- Conduct interviews and screenings to match volunteers with opportunities that align with their skills, interests, and organizational needs.
- Meet with Leadership to review potential volunteer applicants, with final approval sitting with the Director.
- Ensure all on-boarding of volunteers is completed; including required trainings.
- Follow up with Director and Volunteer to ensure volunteer opportunity is successful.
- Review and manage the volunteer database to supply reports on hours volunteered, open volunteer opportunities, expiring trainings, etc.
- Collaborate with Volunteer Coordinators across the Association to plan and execute an annual volunteer recognition event, as well as ongoing appreciation initiatives throughout the year.
- Assist in planning events that relate to volunteer opportunities.
- Attend Branch/Center event and community events when applicable to promote volunteer opportunities within the Association.
- Drive volunteerism efforts throughout the Association.
- Monitor and analyze volunteer engagement data to assess program effectiveness, identify trends, and implement strategies to enhance volunteer retention and satisfaction
- Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations, schools, and businesses to build a strong volunteer pipeline and expand outreach efforts.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience in volunteer management, community engagement or program coordination.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong appreciation for diversity.
- An ability to lead, motivate and engage diverse groups of people.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Knowledgeable with, or have the ability to comply with branch compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication skills with all ages and abilities
- Ability to build and sustain relationships
- Strong organizational skills
- Visionary to see and create unique and meaningful volunteer opportunities.
- Flexible working schedule with some nights and weekends required.
