Revenue Accountant
FLSA Status: Salary, Full Time, Exempt
Department: Accounting
Location: Tyler, TX, US
Reports To: Controller
Salary: Based upon level of experience
General Summary of the Position:
Revenue Accountant for an independent oil and gas exploration and production company, in our Tyler, TX corporate office.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Record sales for assigned operated and non-operated properties
- Review revenue volumes, price, and values per field assignments
- Review prior period adjustments and research monthly variances
- Provide severance tax & royalty calculations used in preparation of state and federal reports
- File state and federal royalty and tax reports
- Record various journal entries
- Prepare account reconciliations as assigned
- Assist in revenue suspense and payable balance research
- Process land authorizations and deck changes
- Respond to owner inquiries in a professional and timely manner
- Assist in compiling information for audits
- Other assigned duties, responsibilities, and special projects as needed
- Quorum Oil and Gas Software experience preferred
Education, Training and Experience:
Qualifications include accounting degree with a minimum of 2 years O and G revenue accounting, including revenue distributions, severance tax reporting and state and federal regulatory royalty reporting.
Skills and Abilities:
Candidate must be highly motivated, with a positive attitude, good organizational skills, detail oriented and reliable. Proficiency with Microsoft Office especially Excel and Word and a working knowledge of Quorum software is desired. Strong interpersonal abilities along with excellent written and verbal communication aptitudes are required.
