Job Description
Title: Homemaker
Salary: $18.50 - $19.15 Per Hour
Program: Child Care/Pre-School
Status: Non-exempt (40 hours per week)
Supervised by: Nutrition Program Manager and Site Supervisor
General Purposes
To plan and prepare meals for the children, as stated in the Child Care/Preschool nutrition guidelines according to the CACFP regulations.
Responsibilities:
Under the guidance of the Site Supervisor and the Nutrition Specialist, will follow established MAOF procedures and official guidelines and regulations to accomplish the following activities:
- Prepares meals for children daily.
- Prepares snacks for children daily.
- Takes the temperature of food upon arrival and at time of serving daily.
- Assists in serving lunch to children.
- Retrieves, washes, and disinfects dishes, utensils, and other items used in serving and
- preparing food.
- Prepares Production Records (calculations/meal count) monthly.
- Maintains inventory of food and kitchen supplies.
- Makes timely requests for orders, food and supplies.
- Retrieves, washes, and disinfects dishes, utensils, and other items used in serving and preparing food.
- Keeps kitchen in a clean and sanitary condition.
- Observes necessary health, sanitary, and safety procedures.
- Maintains clean and neat personal appearance.
- Wears apron and hair net DAILY.
- Treats each child with warmth, affection, respect, and dignity.
- Performs other light housekeeping duties as required.
- Regular attendance according to schedule.
- Attends staff meetings as assigned (in-person or virtual).
- Other duties as assigned.
- Retrieves, washes, and disinfects dishes, utensils, and other items used in serving and
- preparing food.
- Attends trainings, child care classes or seminars conducted at MAOF or elsewhere, as assigned and necessary, to have effective nutrition practices.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent;
- Bi-lingual Spanish/ English required.
- Ability to perform complex program requirements.
- Ability to work Monday through Friday.
- Strong organizational, analytic, and administrative skills.
- Proficient in reading, writing, math, and understanding of work-related material.
- Strong written and oral communication skills required.
- Excellent customer service and problem resolution skills.
- Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet.
- Experience handling sensitive and confidential matters.
- Experience working with childcare providers and CalWORKs participants receiving subsidized childcare assistance preferred.
- Working knowledge of existing County welfare system, preferred.
- Sincere commitment to provide quality service to the public.
- Sensitivity and ability to work well with diverse social, ethnic, religious, and cultural groups.
- Must be able to work with minimum supervision in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be in good physical and mental condition.
- Must pass T.B. test, drug screening and physical examination.
- Successful background and criminal clearance required and maintained, but not limited to California Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and Child Abuse Index, or as required by the program.
- Must always possess Live Scan clearance during employment. Revoked fingerprint clearance will lead to immediate termination of employment.
- Must possess own vehicle, a valid California Driver?s License and appropriate automobile insurance at all times.
- Ability to drive and travel, as required.
- Ability to maintain cooperative, diplomatic working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and the public; work as part of a team and collaborate with colleagues; and complete projects under the tight deadlines even when there are competing requirements and changes in assignments.
