Meyer Capel, A Professional Corporation, is a diversified mid-sized (30 attorney) Central Illinois law firm seeking candidates for an associate family law attorney position at our Bloomington, Illinois office. This position is for candidates seeking to practice in a full range of traditional family law matters, including cases involving dissolution of marriage, parentage/paternity, allocation of parental responsibility, child support, division of property, spousal support, orders of protection, adoption, minor and adult guardianships, and related issues.

Scope of Work
The potential scope of work may include, among other tasks, (1) drafting legal documents such as correspondence, pleadings/motions, notices, subpoenas, proposed court orders, etc.; (2) reviewing large amounts of documents; (3) issuing and responding to discovery; (4) interviewing witnesses, researching legal issues, and preparing for court hearings; (5) conducting contested hearings and trials; (6) advising clients on the their legal rights and obligations, and suggesting the best course of action in their particular situation; (7) and collaborating with other attorneys, paralegals, and legal support staff to ensure a cohesive approach to case management.

The ideal candidate is someone who (1) has exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal English communication skills; (2) has outstanding time management skills; (3) thinks strategically, critically, creatively, and swiftly; (4) is a strong team player who functions well in a professional and collegial environment; (5) is focused on solving problems, serving clients, and achieving successful results; (6) actively listens and comprehends the objectives of others; (7) does not sacrifice integrity or character; (8) has a proven record of achievement; (9) has strong legal research and writing skills, and strong academic credentials; (10) responds well to mentorship and constructive feedback; (11) demonstrates the potential to "make partner;" and (12) desires to live, work, and grow in Central Illinois, and (13) either has been admitted to the Illinois Bar or will pursue successful admission to the Illinois Bar after graduation.
