Job Title: Laundry Attendant Status: NON-EXEMPT
Reports to: Assistant General Manager
Position Summary:
The primary responsibility of the Laundry Attendant is to wash, dry, iron and fold hotel linen and ensure that it is clean and available to be used by the hotel’s departments as needed. In addition, he or she may be responsible for delivering linen to different storage areas and maintaining an organized work area.
Experience & Education:
Experience in a hotel or a related field preferred
High School diploma or equivalent preferred

With various type of equipment such as washer, dryer, gloves, automatic soap device, mop, broom, vacuum, carts for linen transport, keys, laundry chute, two-way radios
Under variable temperature conditions
Under variable noise levels
Outdoors/Indoors
Around chemicals, fumes and or odor hazards
Around dust and or mite hazards
Physical Requirements:
Long hours sometimes required
Medium work – Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
Ability to bend, stretch, twist, stoop or reach with your body and arms repeatedly without difficulty
Ability to stand for long hours and walk long distances without fatigue
Ability to work under variable temperatures and noise levels
Near Vision - The ability to see details at close range
Mental Requirements:
Oral and Written Comprehension and Expression - Must be able to convey & understand information and ideas in English
Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately
Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary
Must have the ability to assimilate complex information, data, etc. from multiple sources and consider, adjust, or modify to meet the constraints of the particular need
Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by co-workers and guests
Mathematical Reasoning - Must be able to work with and understand basic arithmetic functions

Essential Duties & Functions:
Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service oriented manner
Maintain regular attendance, as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the hotel
Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, as defined in the hotel handbook, when working
Comply at all times hotel’s policies and procedures to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations
Keep immediate supervisors fully informed of all challenges or matters requiring their attention
Clean and inspect lint traps to avoid hazards with dryer machines
Keep laundry area neat and clean
Turn in lost and found to supervisor immediately
Report any maintenance issues to supervisor immediately
Sort all hotel linen according to type, color, and size
Wash, transfer and dry linens using safe work practices
Size and stack sheets for distribution to guest floors
Sort and press linen for departments as needed
Operate ironer to press linen
Size and stack linen for distribution to departments
Pre-treat stained or rusted linen before washing
Non-Essential Duties:
Attend department/hotel meetings
Assist hotel in completing special cleaning projects
Other duties as assigned
