Meyer Utility Structures is currently looking to hire a Transportation Manager. Reporting to the Director of Supply Chain, the Transportation Manager oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of all transportation operations within the supply chain. This role ensures efficient, cost-effective, and timely delivery of goods while maintaining compliance with safety, regulatory, and company standards. The successful manager will lead a team and collaborate with internal departments, carriers, and external partners to optimize transportation performance and support business objectives.

What You’ll Do:
- Develop and execute transportation strategies to support business goals, including cost reduction, service improvement, and risk mitigation
- Manage inbound and outbound transportation operations, including route planning, carrier selection, and freight consolidation
- Supervise and mentor transportation staff
- Ensure Meyer plants execute the strategic supply chain plan detailed by the Director of Supply Chain
- Work with the corporate Meyer Supply Chain team to design/improve the necessary processes, systems, reports, and KPI's
- Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and implement training programs to improve team effectiveness
- Interface/collaborate with a wide range of business functions to achieve objectives
- Build and maintain relationships with third-party carriers, freight brokers, and transportation service providers
- Participate in ERP transition/implementations as well as further developing processes and reports to support the business needs
- Work with Arcosa corporate and the Director of Supply Chain to negotiate contracts, monitor service levels, and resolve carrier disputes
- Maintain databases of logistics information and monitor shipping processes to ensure compliance with regulatory and legal requirements, especially around DOT
- Prepare and manage the transportation budget, tracking expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities
- Leverage transportation management systems (TMS) and other technologies to enhance route planning, visibility, and reporting
- Analyze transportation data to provide insights and recommendations for decision-making
What You’ll Need:
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics or related field preferred
- Six Sigma or Lean experience preferred
- 3PL experience preferred
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in transportation, distribution, logistics, or related role
- Rail industry-level knowledge/experience
- Familiarity with FRA, AAR, and DOT is preferred
- Experience with a transportation management system; experience implementing a system desired
- Experience with freight invoicing / billing/ payments
- Experience with multiple modes of transportation - truck, (FTL & LTL) and rail
- Experience with Import/ Export / Customs – particularly in Mexico
- Knowledge and experience using MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work well with others and lead/ mentor a team
- Detail-oriented, organized, resourceful, and have very strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks/projects simultaneously; ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to travel up to 30%
- Ability to work extended hours when necessary
