General Job Description
This role is a direct report to the Director of Manufacturing and Quality. As the Quality Manager, you will be responsible for providing leadership and management for the quality function and sustaining the quality philosophy and lean culture of the enterprise. Establish, maintain, and optimize an effective quality management system. Implement the organization’s quality plan to achieve overall quality objectives. Enhance and improve the organization’s products and services through the implementation of ISO 9001, problem-solving tools, prevention methods, quality-at-the-source, and continuous improvement techniques.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Communicates customer, regulatory, and organizational requirements to assure product quality, contract compliance, and customer satisfaction.
- Direct leadership of Quality Engineers, Technicians, and Inspectors. Selects, trains, directs, evaluates, develops, and supports department personnel.
- Oversees the effective documentation and implementation of the quality management system following ISO 9001 and company objectives.
- Works with the leadership team to ensure that individuals performing functions affecting quality are trained and demonstrate the appropriate skills and performance results.
- Coordinates necessary plant personnel for internal, supplier, customer, and third-party quality systems audits.
- Maintains an effective corrective action process and system to analyze and correct nonconforming materials and customer complaints.
- Implements, tracks, and monitors the KPIs necessary to effectively evaluate organizational performance to target improvement efforts.
- Assess supplier capabilities and monitor supplier quality to ensure desired levels of performance.
- Maintains industry, professional, and technical knowledge by networking, attending industry events, and reviewing professional publications.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or related degree preferred
- Member of / Certified in: ASQ disciplines
- Six Sigma Certified (Green Belt or Black Belt)
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 methodology
- Demonstrated strong problem-solving skills
- Experience in the manufacturing industry is highly preferred
- 3 years of practical experience in a quality supervisory role strongly preferred
- Demonstrated analytical and technical skills (excel, mini-tab, data management software)
- Experience leading Kaizen, 5s, and/or other improvement experience
- Demonstrated ability to manage through complex situations in a fast-paced environment
