Position Overview:
The Repairs & Calibration Specialist is a highly skilled technical professional responsible for the repair, maintenance, and calibration of advanced electronic equipment. Working knowledge of XRF analyzers and related non-destructive inspection technologies is required. This role is central to MFE’s strategic expansion into certified analyzer service offerings and will play a critical role in delivering high-quality support to our Gulf Coast client base.
Individuals considered for this role will enhance technical knowledge and skills to diagnose and repair complex electronic systems, perform precise calibrations using OEM procedures while providing expert-level customer support throughout the service lifecycle. The role also involves contributing to cross-functional initiatives by collaborating with sales, operations, and technical teams to support MFE’s broader business lines, including equipment rentals, training, and sales support.

Candidates being considered for this role will possess strong technical acumen in electronics, diagnostics and repair with superior communication skills, and a customer-centric mindset. This position requires a balance of hands-on repair expertise, service documentation accuracy, and the ability to contribute to customer satisfaction and retention.
Technical Repairs & Diagnostics
- Perform troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs of handheld XRF analyzers and other electronic inspection devices in accordance with OEM and MFE procedures.
- Replace and test components such as detectors, X-ray tubes, circuit boards, and displays.
- Ensure all repaired equipment meets strict quality control standards, including post-repair calibration and performance testing.
Calibration & Quality Assurance
- Conduct precise instrument calibrations using OEM’s proprietary methodologies.
- Maintain accurate calibration records, service logs, and compliance documentation.
- Ensure instruments are updated with the latest firmware/software and are returned to clients fully certified and operational.
Customer Support & Service Excellence
- Serve as a technical point of contact for customers throughout the repair and calibration process.
- Provide clear and timely updates on repair status, service quotes, and equipment readiness.
- Support the sales team in identifying service needs, upsell opportunities, and client retention strategies.
Operational Efficiency & Workflow Management
- Manage RMA processes from intake to shipment, ensuring timely and accurate handling of customer equipment.
- Collaborate with the Documentation Administrator to generate repair reports and service certificates.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe repair lab environment with full safety compliance.
Sales & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Assist the sales and account management teams by identifying potential upgrade or replacement opportunities based on repair findings.
- Support promotional service campaigns and contribute technical insight for marketing literature and proposals.
- Participate in technical training sessions and knowledge-sharing initiatives to ensure consistency across MFE repair centers.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
- 3 years of experience in electronics troubleshooting, repair, or calibration (experience with XRF or analytical instrumentation preferred)
- Familiarity with OEM diagnostic software and tools; previous experience with XRF analyzers is a strong plus
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple service requests concurrently
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills and a commitment to delivering outstanding customer service
- Comfortable working in a lab environment, adhering to safety, standards and SOP’s
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative, team-based environment
