Survey Party Chief

MFS Engineers & Surveyors currently has openings for Survey Crew Chiefs. Our offices are located in South Plainfield and Newfoundland, NJ. Our projects are located primarily throughout the NY/NJ Metropolitan area. The Crew Chief works solo and/or with an instrument operator. Experience with Leica data collection software is a plus, including running the data collector, along with downloading/uploading files in accordance with company procedures. Knowledge and ability to collect data in a manner acceptable for field to finish procedures is highly desirable.

Responsibilities:

• Run and supervise a one- or two-man field crew.

• Prepare field notes, sketches and photos.

• Collect and code data for topographic, utility, structural monitoring, boundary, wetlands, other types of surveys.

• Utilize robotic total stations, optical/digital levels, and GPS.

• Perform daily downloads of data collector files.

• Adhere to company protocols for maintenance and upkeep of survey equipment and vehicles.

• Interface and report to MFS' Principal Land Surveyor or project managers as assigned to a project.

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Party Chief

• Boundary/Right of Way field experience is very favorable.

• Experience with Leica robotic total stations, a plus

• Wide range of experience in topographic/boundary survey.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, a plus

• Laser Scanning Experience a plus

• Must possess a valid driver's license and have a clean driving record

• MFS completes a background check for all new hires.
