Position Purpose
The Property Accountant will work with a small team to help keep the accounting and financial processes of MG2 Group up to standard and ensure accurate timely financial reporting and control.
Responsibilities
- Manage the daily activity and month end close of all properties in assigned portfolio from start to finish.
- Payment of all invoices and related cash management entries.
- Create, post, and maintain schedules for adjusting journal entries, accruals, and prepaid expenses.
- Reconciliation of related bank accounts.
- Maintain General Ledger, reconciliations, and work papers for a diverse portfolio of commercial & residential properties.
- Prepare monthly accrual-based financial reporting packages.
- Collaborate on year-end financial statements, audits, and tax preparation in tandem with Property Management, Finance, and Owner.
- Assist with other ad hoc projects and reports, collect, analyze, and summarize information and trends.
Skills and Qualifications
- Ability to work in a Windows based environment.
- Proficiency with Excel and Word.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Experience with various Accounting/Finance software applications.
- Solid knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Adheres to deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail.
- 1-2 years minimum experience in a finance environment demonstrating strong technical and analytical skills and a track record of success working in a small team-based environment.
- Property/Real Estate Accounting experience highly desired.
- Ability to work independently while demonstrating flexibility and juggling various tasks.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years work experience required.
