Overview
This position is responsible for managing the Company's logistics function, including enforcing logistics plans, developing logistics policies and procedures, and formulating and directing policies to provide a safe and healthy atmosphere within the workplace.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Safety:

Manages Logistics Operations:
- Monitoring the quality, cost, and efficiency of the movement and storage of products, ensuring that all transportation and warehousing functions are carried out accurately and efficiently.
- Considers cost reduction strategies in logistics processes, plans, and implements effective logistics strategies, procedures, and policies.
- Reviews logistics strategies, policies, and procedures on a consistent basis and revising as necessary; and manages all other aspects of logistics operations.
- Prepares and manages logistics department expense budgets.
Performs Logistical Functions
- Manages incoming and outgoing shipments by ensuring the accuracy of all logistics related documents.
- Determining the most efficient and economical routing and mode of transportation by directing the scheduling of shipments.
- Manages all relevant paperwork for import/export procedures and arranging all transportation relevant to distribution and shipping.
- Ensures that the Company's logistics functions, and information are up to date by initiating investigations into damaged items and starting the claim process.
Manages Inventory Control Functions
- Manages the performance of inventory related duties by ensuring appropriate inventory levels are maintained.
- Enforces strategies for the organization of inventory, reconciles inventory discrepancies and managing all other inventory control functions as necessary.
Negotiates with Vendors:
- Selects and contracts with common carriers, negotiates rates to ensure cost efficiency.
Keeps Officers Informed
- Participates in meetings, reports problems to Officers verbally or in writing in order to avoid confusion and further problems. Recommends changes for improvements in the Company's functions.
Supervises Staff
- Provides direction and delegates responsibilities to subordinate Staff, evaluating work performance and provides training when necessary.
- Conducting Performance Reviews and provides input for promotions, salary adjustments, termination, etc.
- Complies with Federal, State, and Local Requirements studying existing and new regulations.
Qualifications and Knowledge
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to individuals and groups
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to analyze and use various documents (contracts, purchase orders, etc.).
- Ability to use a computer and such applications as Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint and be able to design custom reports as necessary.
- Must have supervisory skills and management experience
Education, Experience and Certification
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in related field; and
- 10 plus years related experience and/or
- Training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
