Summary
The Director of Insurance Operations is responsible for leading and managing the overall operational strategy, processes, and performance of the insurance division. This senior leadership role ensures operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, customer satisfaction, and the implementation of best practices to drive growth and profitability. The Director collaborates with internal stakeholders, oversees operational teams, and aligns processes with organizational goals.
Responsibilities
Operational Leadership:
· Develop and implement operational strategies to improve efficiency and effectiveness across the insurance division.
· Oversee daily operations, including policy administration, claims processing underwriting support and customer service.
· Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and enhance operational performance.
Strategic Planning and Execution:
· Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and execute long-term business strategies.
· Identify opportunities for growth, innovation, and process improvements.
· Drive initiatives to streamline workflows, reduce costs, and enhance service delivery.
Team Management and Development:
· Lead, mentor, and develop operational teams to achieve business objectives.
· Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
· Manage staffing, Performance evaluations, and professional development initiatives.
Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management:
· Ensure compliance with all relevant insurance regulations, industry standards, and internal policies.
· Implement and maintain effective risk management practices and internal controls.
· Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to address regulatory changes and audits.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
· Partner with underwriting, claims, finance, IT, and other departments to drive crosse-functional initiatives.
· Build and maintain relationships with external partners, including brokers, reinsurers, and regulatory bodies.
· Communicate operational insights and performance metrics to executive leadership.
Technology and Process Optimization:
· Leverage technology to enhance operational capabilities and data-driven decision-making.
· Identify and implement systems improvements and automation solutions.
· Ensure the effective use of insurance platforms and data analytics tools.
Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, insurance, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
· Minimum of 8 – 10 years of experience in insurance operations with at least 5 years in leadership role
· In-depth knowledge of insurance products, processes, regulations, and industry trends
· Proven track record of leading large teams
· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision making
· Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management abilities
· Proficiency in insurance software system and data analytics.
