What are the responsibilities and job description for the Process Operator position at MGK?
MGK has 100 years' of experience focusing on sustainable & environmentally conscious ways to protect families and crops from pests around the world, using our synthetic and certified organic, botanically based pesticide products.
The Process Operator will be responsible for safe control and efficient operation of multiple units/process steps, in the manufacturing of MGK's product formulations. The Operator is expected to observe and monitor controls, gauges, instruments, sight glasses, mixing, system alarms, meters, and alerts. The primary objectives of this role are: safe operation of equipment, ensuring the quality of product produced by adhering to process steps, optimization of throughput, and yield. The Operator will also work closely with the New Product Development Teams, Engineering, EHS, and Quality Assurance/Quality Control to provide feedback and expertise relative to this role and the processes s/he performs.
The hours for this role are Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM-2:30 PM.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Operate chemical processing equipment effectively to manufacture basic MGK formulations, reactions, or refining in primary assigned area
- Complete all manual and PLC controlled tasks consistently which includes: maintaining records, logs, schedules and spreadsheets, as necessary, to ensure compliance and traceability of all steps in the process
- Complete all processing steps in accordance to quality standards and compliant with EHS policies which include: charging equipment, monitoring chemical reactions, phase transfers, bulk liquid transfers, and taking QC samples
- Patrol and evaluate equipment operation to ensure safety as well as efficiency
- Accurately and timely input necessary accounting/transacting of all material consumption in the course of producing product
- Calculate correct amount of materials needed for MGK formulations, reactions, or refining
- Measure material units accurately for use in MGK formulations, reactions, or refining
- Perform other duties as requested by management
Qualifications:
- High school degree or G.E.D. required with 2 years of technical training (Associates degree preferred) or experience in a technical field
- 2 years of Chemical Process Operating experience is a plus, although not required
- 40 hours Safety training & forklift certification is preferred although not required
- Experience with lean thinking and continuous improvement preferred although not required
Additional Requirements:
- Position is full-time, onsite in Chaska, MN.
- Schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM-2:30 PM.
- Rate of Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour (commensurate with experience and qualifications).

Medium Work - Exerting 20-50 lbs. occasionally or 10-25 lbs. frequently. Worker may be exposed to elevated room temperatures for prolonged periods of time. Work Environment includes: exposure to or working in or around equipment and machinery including computers, pumps, piping, valves, steam systems, hot rooms, flow meters, tanks, shear mixers, filters, process controls, forklifts and material handling equipment.
Frequency Definitions: Constant = Over 40% / Frequent = Up to 40% / Occasional = Up to 10%
