MGM Healthcare provides rehabilitation, skilled nursing, long-term care, assisted living, and independent living centers in Iowa, Missouri and Oklahoma. Our centers provide on-site therapy and rehabilitation services - using the latest equipment and techniques - that run the gamut from physical and occupational therapy to special memory units and respite care. Our corporate office is located in St. Louis, Missouri. This position would support the Missouri facilities.
Position Overview:
The Clinical Pharmacy Liaison Nurse will be responsible for overseeing the management of pharmacy-related communications and actions across multiple nursing home facilities. This role ensures that high-cost medication alerts, formulary recommendations, and non-covered medication change requests are properly reviewed and addressed in a timely manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and Manage Alerts: Receive and review high-cost medication alerts, formulary recommendations, and non-covered medication change requests.
- Collaboration with Facility Staff: Work closely with Directors of Nursing (DON), administrators, and prescribers to assess the necessity of high-cost medications and facilitate recommended changes.
- Communication with Prescribers: Engage with prescribers to discuss formulary changes and non-covered medication alternatives.
- System Updates: Accurately update orders in the electronic medical record system and report actions
- Audit and Compliance: Ensure compliance with facility protocols and pharmacy cost-containment strategies.
- Education and Support: Provide guidance and support to facility staff to enhance understanding and adherence to pharmacy recommendations.
Qualifications:
- Active RN or LPN license
- Experience in long-term care or skilled nursing facility settings
- Familiarity with pharmacy management systems and PointClickCare (PCC)
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple facilities and prioritize tasks effectively
Preferred Skills:
- Previous experience in pharmacy cost management
- Knowledge of formulary management and prior authorization process
