THE JOB:
Step into a leadership role in one of Mandalay Bay's dynamic culinary operations-the Employee Dining Room. As an Assistant Chef, you will oversee high-volume food production, ensuring our team members enjoy consistent, high-quality meals in a buffet-style setting. This role blends hands-on leadership and operational oversight to create an efficient and well-organized kitchen environment. You'll be responsible for maintaining exceptional food standards while managing a large team. If you enjoy the energy of high-volume kitchens, this is the role for you.
THE DAY-TO-DAY:
- Manage kitchen operations, ensuring food service runs smoothly and efficiently.
- Oversee a team of Master Cooks, Cooks, and Pantry Workers.
- Lead employee coaching and training fostering a productive and professional kitchen environment.
- Maintain food quality and consistency, ensuring stations are properly stocked and well-presented.
- Utilize computer skills for menu planning, Excel-based order guides, and Outlook-based communications.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
- At least 21 years of age or older.
- High School Diploma, GED, or educational equivalent.
- 2 or more years of prior relevant experience in a high-volume restaurant, production kitchen, or fine dining restaurant.
- Advanced knife skills in a high-volume kitchen.
- Supervisory experience.
- Computer experience with Microsoft products such as Excel, Outlook, and Word.
