The Job

The Convention Services Manager plays a key role in overseeing the seamless coordination of conventions and convention meetings. This position requires close collaboration with various hotel departments to ensure the successful planning, setup, and service of our clients' events. You will play a vital role in our mission to own the guest’s experience and create WOW memories that they will carry with them far beyond their stay with us.

All responsibilities must be carried out in alignment with departmental standards, MGM Resorts policies, and procedures, while supporting the strategic vision of MGM Resorts.

The Day-to-day

• Acts as the primary point of contact between clients and all hotel departments, ensuring smooth communication both during pre-planning and on-site execution
• Oversees assigned operational functions within the department, ensuring alignment with the property’s strategic goals and vision
• Manages guest service delivery and ensures it meets the company's core service standards and brand attributes within the assigned department(s)
• Collaborates directly with clients to finalize room setups, décor, cost details, billing, and any other requirements related to their event
• Ensures the necessary meeting facilities are reserved and ready as required
• Hosts both prospective and current clients visiting the property, providing exceptional customer experiences such as dining in hotel restaurants and attending shows
• Fosters a collaborative work environment that encourages teamwork, provides performance feedback, recognizes achievements, and promotes mutual respect and employee satisfaction
  
  

The Ideal Candidate

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
• One (1) year of previous experience in hotel and/or banquet operations in a similar resort setting
• Tradeshow experience preferred
• Ability to effectively listen and administer instructions, remain calm and manage multiple tasks in a very‐high paced and stressful environment
• Working knowledge of automated Sales/Catering system, Amadeus preferred
• Strong organizational skills to function effectively under time constraints with attention to details
• Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with management, associates, and other employees
• Able to frequently move freely throughout the convention center, sit for long periods and withstand various activities such as frequent and long distances walking, standing, and bending
• Able to maintain manual dexterity to access computer via computer keyboard and operate office equipment, such as telephones, copiers, tablet applications, etc
• Have the ability to access all areas of the facility and travel off property
• Working knowledge and understanding of labor bargaining agreement
• Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all stakeholders
• Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and verbal forms
• Maintain a professional, neat, and well‐groomed appearance, adhering to MGM standards
