The Job
The Supervisor, Arena Operations is responsible for the daily management and smooth operations of the MGM Grand Garden Arena. This role involves supervising and coordinating the efforts of arena staff, ensuring top-tier execution of events, and maintaining high standards of safety, equipment care, and production efficiency.
The Day-to-day
- Supervise and schedule stagehand crews, including riggers, deckhands, loaders, A/V technicians, and spotlight operators.
- Serve as the liaison between facility management and production crews, ensuring seamless communication.
- Oversee the setting up and striking down of staging elements, bleachers, chairs, basketball courts, and ice rinks.
- Ensure equipment is well-maintained, properly stored, and operational at all times.
- Conduct pre- and post-event inspections of bleachers and other arena setups.
- Review, evaluate, and document subordinates' performance, including timesheet management.
- Enforce safety protocols and fire safety codes; ensure monthly fire extinguisher inspections are completed.
- Submit material, supply, and equipment purchase requests as needed.
- Operate various machinery, including forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts, and company vehicles.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- 4 years of experience as a stagehand in the special events field with experience setting up and tearing down
- 1 year of experience as a stagehand supervisor in the special events field with experience setting up and tearing down
- Ability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Knowledgeable in the use of hand and power tools, with specific experience in concert-related equipment.
- Proficient in operating forklifts and articulating boom lifts.
- Strong communication skills in English (both written and verbal).
- Ability to lead, mentor, and motivate a team.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills for interacting with team members, clients, and external contacts.
- Must maintain a professional, neat, and well-groomed appearance in line with company standards.
