Job Description: Maintenance Pipefitter
Location: Newport News, VA
Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Maintenance Pipefitter to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical piping systems. The role requires a strong knowledge of plumbing, mechanical, and gasfitter codes, with the ability to work in compliance with safety standards and company protocols. The Maintenance Pipefitter will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of piping systems while adhering to industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, repair, and maintain live mechanical piping systems.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical piping system issues and perform repairs in a timely manner.
- Ensure all installations and repairs are compliant with plumbing, mechanical, and gasfitter codes and regulations.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to ensure the seamless operation of systems.
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on piping systems to minimize downtime and ensure reliability.
- Provide accurate documentation of repairs, installations, and maintenance activities.
- Assist in the assembly, disassembly, and replacement of piping and related equipment.
- Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to all safety standards, policies, and regulations.
- Use appropriate tools and equipment to complete tasks safely and efficiently.
- Provide input and support to the continuous improvement of maintenance processes and systems.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience in the installation, repair, and maintenance of mechanical piping systems.
- Strong understanding of plumbing, mechanical, and gasfitter codes.
- Journeyman’s Plumbing or Gasfitter license is highly desirable.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with welding and pipefitting techniques is a plus.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Required Safety Training / Qualifications:
- Leased Labor Provider Company (LLPC) must provide employees who have completed the required safety training and/or medical clearance.
- All training records and medical clearances must be provided to Newport News Environmental, Health, and Safety Department (O27) for review and approval prior to assignment.
- All required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided by the Leased Labor Provider Company.
Working Conditions:
- Work in compliance with company safety policies and regulations.
- PPE must be worn at all times as per safety protocols.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $28.00 - $30.00 per hour
Schedule:
- 10 hour shift
- 8 hour shift
