Job Title : Fitter – Assembly Line Worker with Rigging and Material Handling Expertise
Location : Dallas, TX 75211
Pay : $24 / hour
Job Summary :
We are seeking a skilled and versatile Fitter to join our assembly line team, specializing in the fabrication and manufacturing of heavy equipment for the oil and gas industry and electrical power genset packaging. This role involves assembling sheet metal and structural steel enclosures, fuel tanks, silencers, mufflers, and related components. Expertise in rigging, hoisting, crane operation, and material handling is essential for the efficient and safe handling of heavy and complex components.
Key Responsibilities :
Assembly and Fitting :
- Assemble and fit sheet metal panels, structural steel frames, and components according to blueprints and specifications.
- Ensure proper alignment, fastening, and sealing of parts to meet quality standards.
Rigging and Hoisting :
Safely rig and hoist large and heavy components using slings, chains, and other lifting equipment.Assess load weight, balance, and stability to ensure safe and efficient lifting operations.Crane and Forklift Operation :
Operate overhead cranes, jib cranes, and forklifts to handle and position materials and assemblies.Conduct pre-operation checks to ensure safe functioning of lifting and material-handling equipment.Blueprint Reading and Interpretation :
Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and assembly diagrams.Verify dimensions and tolerances using measuring instruments.Material Handling and Organization :
Manage material flow on the shop floor, ensuring timely availability of components for assembly.Load and unload materials safely to minimize damage or delays.Safety and Compliance :
Follow all safety protocols, including OSHA regulations, during rigging, hoisting, and material handling operations.Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain a clean, organized workspace.Inspection and Quality Assurance :
Inspect assembled components and material handling operations to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.Report defects, inconsistencies, or hazards promptly.Collaboration and Efficiency :
Work closely with team members, including welders, fabricators, and engineers, to meet production deadlines.Contribute ideas to improve workflows, material handling processes, and assembly efficiency.Qualifications : Education :
High school diploma or equivalent required.Technical training or certification in mechanical fitting, rigging, or material handling preferred.Experience :
3–5 years of experience as a fitter in the oil and gas or heavy equipment fabrication industry.Proven expertise in rigging, crane operations, and material handling equipment.Skills :
Proficiency in rigging techniques, load assessment, and equipment operation.Ability to operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and jib cranes safely and efficiently.Strong understanding of blueprints, assembly drawings, and fabrication processes.Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work under pressure.Certifications :
Forklift operator certification required.Rigging and hoisting certification preferred.Crane operator training or certification is a plus.Physical Requirements :
Ability to lift and move heavy materials (up to 75 lbs).Comfortable working in confined spaces, at heights, or in outdoor environments.Stamina to handle repetitive tasks, long hours, and physically demanding work.MGR1
