About the Role
The Field Service Technician will perform on-site electrical/programming, support and electrical/mechanical repair service for MGS machinery located at various customer sites. This includes installation support, field rebuilds, troubleshooting, on-site repairs, and informal/formal operator training. This position requires the ability to represent MGS with a high level of professionalism and customer service.
In this role you are responsible for:
- Proficient to perform field service for state of the art packaging automation
- equipment with electrical and mechanical machine knowledge
- Start-up, repair and upgrading of machines in customer plants. Perform contracted or periodic maintenance of machines.
- Training of customer personnel to properly operate and maintain machines
- Attainment of a working knowledge of all assigned equipment in the field
- Keep in contact with customers to maintain their confidence with the equipment
- and service
- Assists customer and Sales Department in ordering replacement parts and sees
- that they are ordered properly
- Creates and submits service reports, expense reports, daily time sheets, etc.
- Reports customer accidents and any unsafe conditions to customer and internal
- management
- Service machines in customer plants and provides service information by
- telephone
- Performs other duties as assigned by Service Manager or as circumstances
- require
What You Need to Be Successful
- Technical degree or equivalent work experience with packaging/automation equipment.
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to trouble shoot, test, and repair technical equipment
- Ability to read blueprints and technical diagrams
- Experience with basic hand tools and power tools
- Experience with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Ability to travel in the US up to 80% (there is potential for international travel opportunities)
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Physically able to meet requirements of the job which may include, working in confined spaces, lifting heavy equipment, and bending down frequently
- Ability to mechanically and electrically troubleshoot and service packaging machinery
- Computer-literate, skilled problem solvers and customer service oriented
- Independent worker
- Demonstrates professional attitude and high level of customer service
- Minimum of 5 years of experience building and installing packaging or automation equipment.

- The salary range for this position is between $70,000 and $78,000 annually.
