Job Summary :
The Inbound Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for leading and overseeing the daily operations of hourly warehouse staff, ensuring the smooth and efficient execution of tasks aligned with company performance metrics and customer objectives. This role plays a key part in managing the inbound receiving process, including offloading, receiving, labeling, put-away, and other related warehouse functions. The supervisor ensures timely and accurate processing of products while upholding high standards for safety, quality, and productivity.
This role builds and maintains strong, effective relationships with transportation, customer service, safety, and financial / general administrative operations. Orients work to meet company service and cost objectives.
Essential Functions :
Staff Management
- Actively participate in the hiring, training, and development of warehouse associates.
- Assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide constructive feedback to meet productivity goals.
- Establish and enforce productivity standards, holding associates accountable for their performance.
- Conduct ongoing training on warehouse Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure compliance.
- Address employee concerns and collaborate with People Operations on any HR-related matters.
- Perform performance reviews and administer disciplinary actions in accordance with company policies.
Inbound Operations
Ensure proper offloading of containers and trucks, adhering to company requirements.Collaborate with transportation and customer service departments to coordinate inbound schedules.Provide necessary resources to receiving associates to support safe and efficient task execution.Inspect incoming products for damage and report discrepancies promptly.Ensure products are offloaded, staged, and correctly identified.Receiving Functions
Verify incoming products against purchase orders to ensure accuracy.Ensure teams follow special inbound instructions.Oversee pallet breakdowns when needed, ensuring quality and efficiency in the process.Ensures product is received and labels in a timely manner.Supervise the put-away procedure to ensure proper inventory organization storage.Enforce quality standards throughout the receiving process.Collaborate with other departments to prioritize and streamline inventory needs and storage.Communication and teamwork
Maintain clear communication across shifts, addressing work concerns and progress between day, night, and weekend teams.Provide daily, weekly, and monthly work plans to warehouse staff to ensure alignment and clarity.Communicate any workflow issues or bottlenecks to Transportation and Customer Service.Coordinate with other warehouse departments (fulfillment, outbound, inventory control, etc.) to streamline the flow of goods and ensure smooth operations.Serve as a backup to other supervisors, including opening the warehouse and dispatching company drivers as needed.Safety and Housekeeping
Maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and organization within all warehouse areas.Provide daily safety messages to the warehouse team.Supervise and distribute cleaning assignments as needed to keep the work areas clean and tidy.Empty trash barrels, remove empty wood pallets, and sweep up aisle.Inventory Control
Partner with inventory control team to reach an annual dollar inventory accuracy rate of 99.9%.Identity and address any potential inventory discrepancies.Continuously improve the understanding of root causes of inventory variances and use this understanding to effect positive change with the operations team.Other Responsibilities :
Ensure proper use of warehouse management systems (WMS) and other technology tools to track and manage shipments.Acquire knowledge of WMS to the point of being an SME (Subject Matter Expert).Ensure MHE is properly maintained and collect weekly checklists.Skills and Qualifications :
Minimum 3 years of experience in a warehouse environment, with a proven track record as a supervisor or team leader.Bilingual (Spanish / English) required.Extensive experience with warehouse operations, including receiving, put-away, replenishment, picking, loading, and cycle counting for inventory control.Material handling expertise, including operation of forklifts, reach trucks, order pickers and electric jacks.Proficient in using RF guns and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS). Strong computer skills are essential.Demonstrated leadership abilities, with a focus on strong ethics, sound judgment, and the ability to resolve issues and meet deadlines effectively.Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends, as required by operational needs.
