Integral to MHA's mission, vision, and values, communications is a cornerstone of the association representing MHA to external stakeholders, providing leadership and counsel in media relations, and developing proactive messaging, public relations, and advocacy campaigns for all association divisions.
The communications coordinator is an integral part of the day-to-day function of the communications and public relations team. This individual specializes in providing exceptional service and consistent delivery to MHA staff and members.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Assists with research and content development for communications materials.
- Drafts content including emails, newsletters, press releases, and reports.
- Provides proofreading support, with attention to AP style and MHA style.
- Uses strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Contributes to the professionalism of MHA communications.
- Drafts, distributes, and monitors social content.
- Monitors media and social media for trending issues that may need an MHA response. Anticipates potential issues that will need the engagement of MHA communications.
- Aggregates news coverage and social media content for daily distribution to stakeholders.
- Assists with content development and updates to the MHA website.
- Assists with member communications, MHA reports, and other outreach.
- Contributes to basic design of reports, graphics, presentations, and other documents as needed.
- Oversees contacts in MHA’s CRM.
- Leads team’s organizational systems including project tracking, file management, and media tracking.
- Other duties may be assigned.
