MHC Healthcare is seeking a Recovery Support Specialist to join the Behavioral Health team at the Clinica Del Alma Health Center located in Tucson,  AZ. The Recovery Support Specialist is responsible for providing peer support and rehabilitation services to clients, along with case management services aimed at promoting client recovery independence. MHC Healthcare is a Federally Qualified Community Health Center (FQHC), with 17 sites in Tucson and Pima County. Our mission is to improve our Community by providing exceptional, whole-person healthcare. The following qualifications are required: Minimum of 21 years of age High school diploma or equivalent Completion of accredited Recovery Support Specialist program Experience with the State AHCCCS (ACC) and Regional Behavioral Health Authority (RBHA) system Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (may be completed with MHC upon hire) First Aid certification (may be completed with MHC upon hire) Fingerprint Clearance Card through the Arizona Department of Public Safety (or ability to obtain upon hire) Current Arizona driver’s license with clean driving record and proof of current vehicle insurance (39-month MVR will be run by MHC) The following qualifications are preferred: Training or experience in substance abuse or behavioral health services Experience with community resources and agencies Bilingual (English/Spanish) Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered if applicable and must be directly related to the functions and body of knowledge required to successfully perform the job.This is a part time position of 26 hours per week.  This position has the following supervisory responsibility: Does not direct or supervise others. The ideal candidate will also possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities: Excellent customer service, organizational, and communication skills with emphasis on responsiveness, building trust, mutual respect, and courtesy. Computer proficient. Knowledge of State ACC and RBHA requirements. Familiarity with current versions of Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) and International Classification of Diseases (ICD). Knowledge of stigma reduction strategies countering self-stigma, role modeling recovery, and valuing lived experience. Duties and Responsibilities: Recruits and promotes client participation at all levels within the RBHA / ACC systems of care. Applies the concepts of Hope and Recovery, instilling the belief that recovery is real and possible. Assists clients in navigating services and community resources to promote clients' independent utilization of resources in support of achieving their personal recovery goals. Consults with assigned supervisor to ensure compliance with MHC policies and maintains professional boundaries in treatment. Provides ongoing support and ensures client’s needs are being met. Attends meetings and hearings at the request of the family, therapist, or other behavioral health team member. Prepares timely and accurate documentation and assists Behavioral Health team in maintaining audit-ready client charts, as directed. Accommodates client schedules when providing direct services. Meets productivity requirements while maintaining ethical encounter practices. Provides home-based and crisis intervention services as needed or requested. Provides transportation for clients as needed or requested. Provides all clients with appropriate referrals to other community agencies as needed or requested. Works collaboratively with psychiatric staff as appropriate, ensuring clients receive appropriate medication monitoring, psychiatric evaluation, and regular primary care involvement. Follows professional and ethical practices when working with clients, client records, families, and community personnel.  Maintains confidentiality of client and family information. Works effectively with all clients and families to promote trust while providing excellent customer service within a recovery model of care. Acts as a willing and efficient liaison between MHC Behavioral Health Services and other behavioral health agency staff, school district employees, Department of Child Safety (DCS), Department of Economic Security (DES), RBHA/ACC staff, and court employees. Interacts effectively with MHC employees, ACC/RBHA/Health Plans, community members, and other agency personnel to promote trust, cooperation, and growth. Participates in department meetings, client staffing, case reviews, staff development, and policy and procedure development as appropriate. Assumes responsibility for understanding guidelines and procedures for all department contracts and requests clarification if necessary. Observes applicable state and federal laws, assumes responsibility for knowledge of laws, and requests clarification if necessary.  Maintains general behavioral health and education standards, keeping abreast of behavioral health and educational trends, by reading and attending in-services and workshops as appropriate and indicated in staff development plan.  Uses appropriate incident reporting procedures when documenting unsafe or problematic incidents involving patients, clients and/or staff.
