I) Job Purpose
The Benefits and Outreach Coordinator provides planned, systematic, and ongoing support for adults and children in Tarrant County. The coordinator will assist eligible parents with children in applying for or renewing Children Health Insurance Program (CHIP) or Children's Medicaid coverage. The coordinator will assist parents with eligible children in dealing with changes in the enrollment and renewal process under the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The coordinator will assist adults in applying for or renewing various services to include : FASFA, SNAP, Disability, Women's Health Program, The Market Place, WIC, Housing, and Adult Medicaid.
Communicate regularly with other organizations in Tarrant County providing CHIP / Children's Medicaid application assistance or referral, for cooperative planning, information sharing, and referrals to enhance the ability of families to know where they can get help in applying for CHIP / Children's Medicaid coverage in Tarrant County.
II) Essential Functions
A. Assist families in CHIP or Children Medicaid coverage Programs :

- Provide application assistance to parents with eligible children in the enrollment and renewal process under the Affordable Care Act to include CHIP or Children's Medicaid coverage.
- Conduct telephone follow-up with families as needed to determine the outcome of their applications or renewal.
- Comply with any state or federal rules related to training, reporting, and monitoring, and obtain appropriate certification as required.
- Help obtain consumer and stakeholder input in Tarrant County during planning, implementation, and evaluation of projects directly related to accessing services.
- Submit reports monthly reports on performance measures, including number of individuals served in format specified by MHMR.
- Protect confidentiality of individuals served information. Report any breach of confidentiality immediately to supervisor.
- Participate in outreach activities approved by Director of Community Outreach and Engagement.

IV) Internal & External Customer Service
This position requires extensive internal contacts with the BH division staff in person and by telephone and E-mail. The employee will accomplish this with average verbal and above-average written skills.
This position requires visibility and extensive contacts in person, by correspondence, and by telephone with the following entities : BH Leadership, BH directors, managers and staff, and community partners.
Must demonstrate compassion, trauma-informed care, and safety practices including suicide safe care
V) Travel
This position requires intra-agency travel throughout the county. It also may require statewide and national travel for meetings and conferences on an as-needed basis.

All staff are required to participate in agency Emergency Preparedness and Environmental Safety programs and may be assigned by their departments as a key / essential staff level function during critical events or for the purpose of sustaining business continuity.
This position may require temporary or permanent re-assignment to any MHMR Tarrant facility as determined by program needs and / or the Division / Director.
Assigned work hours may change as the needs of the agency change.
The functional Title of this position may change as the needs of the agency change.
All work will be complete within the scheduled work hours. All non-exempt (hourly) employee are expected to clock In and out for each work shift, no work done should be done off the clock.
Prior approval from supervisor is required for all Paid Time Off (PTO) and Overtime.
MHMR reserves the tight to change, and to or eliminate a position as it deems appropriate.
Employment is at will, as well as agency needs may change.
Agency dress code is to be followed at all times.
Physical on-site presence, including regular attendance and punctuality is an essential function of this position. Any change or adjustments to your assigned work schedule or shift hours must be approved by your supervisor in advance.
