QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associates degree, minimum of 60 hours of college credit or successfully completed Parapro exam
- Ability to work with students with disabilities
Job Summary: A special education paraprofessional is a vital component to ensuring student’s needs are being met. This position can be either an instructional paraprofessional or a one-to-one paraprofessional.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Be punctual and maintain schedule as dictated by building administration, special education director, or special education teacher
- Properly and effectively notifying building principal, special education teacher, and Substitute coordinator when you are unable to be present
- Able to lift and stoop
- Enjoy working with students
- Accompany students to the general education classroom, cafeteria, playground, restroom, and or other locations on the school campus.
- Understanding regarding student behavior which requires patience-follow behavior plans
- CPR/First Aid training
- Ability to work well with others and take directions
- Accept feedback both constructive and positive
- Must perform personal care for students with needed
- Willingness to be reassigned in order to help other needs in the district
- Any other duties as assigned
