Position Overview
MHY Family Services is seeking a dedicated and experienced Behavior Specialist to join our team, providing essential support within the Lakeview School District for the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 school years. This role is pivotal in enhancing the educational environment by addressing behavioral challenges and promoting positive behavioral interventions and supports.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. - Tier 1 Support: Engage in classroom-level interventions, assist with the implementation of the school-wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS), and provide coaching and support for classroom management strategies.
- Tier 2 Support: Conduct small group sessions to address and improve behavioral skill deficits among identified students.
- Tier 3 Support: Perform Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA), develop and implement individualized behavior plans, and provide direct coaching and training to staff on managing behaviors of concern.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents, and community partners to create a supportive and effective educational environment.
- Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of behavior intervention plans and strategies, adjusting as necessary to meet the needs of students and the goals of the school district.
Work Hours and Benefits
- This position follows the academic school year calendar but may require additional hours as needed for training, documentation, and collaboration.

Qualifications
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Child Development, Psychiatric Nursing, or a related field preferred; Bachelor’s degree holders with significant experience in related fields will also be considered.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in a school setting or child/adolescent behavioral health support.
- Required clearances: FBI, State Criminal, and State Child Abuse Clearances (Act 33/34).
- Valid PA driver’s license.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong understanding of behavioral health theories and practices applicable to a school setting.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
- Proven ability to develop and implement effective behavior management programs and strategies.
- Knowledge of and experience with PBIS and other behavior support frameworks.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
