Reports To: Facilities Manager and Cafeteria Manager
Job Summary: The School Custodian and Cafeteria Food Service Worker is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe school environment while also assisting in the preparation and service of meals in the school cafeteria. This dual-role position ensures that the school facilities are well-maintained and that students receive nutritious meals in a clean and welcoming environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Custodian Duties:
- Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing surfaces.
- Clean and disinfect restrooms, classrooms, offices, and common areas.
- Empty trash and recycling bins and ensure proper disposal.
- Maintain and restock cleaning supplies and equipment.
- Perform minor maintenance and repairs as needed.
- Report any safety hazards or maintenance issues to the Facilities Manager.
- Assist with setting up and breaking down for school events and activities.
Cafeteria Food Service Duties:
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of meals according to established recipes and guidelines.
- Serve food to students and staff in a courteous and efficient manner.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the kitchen and dining areas.
- Wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
- Restock food and supplies as needed.
- Follow food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Assist with inventory management and ordering of food and supplies.
General Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with all school policies and procedures.
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude while interacting with students, staff, and visitors.
- Work collaboratively with other staff members to ensure a smooth operation of school facilities and cafeteria services.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager and Cafeteria Manager.
Work Schedule:
- Full-time, 12-month position based on the school calendar.
- No work during Thanksgiving week, two weeks during Christmas, Spring Break, and the week of the 4th of July.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in custodial work and/or food service preferred.
- Knowledge of cleaning techniques and equipment.
- Basic cooking skills and knowledge of food safety regulations.
- Safe-Serve Certified of willing to complete
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects and perform physical tasks.
