Responsibilities :
- The Extrusion Press Operator will set up the aluminum extrusion press, change dies based on work orders, use an overhead crane to remove the hot die from the heated oven, and place the die in the press tool holder.
- Operates the press to pre-set standards. Set up machines according to documented procedures. Enters the die number and checks gauges to ensure the automated operating system properly controls the temperature and extrusion process.
- Performs surface and condition quality checks and cuts samples to check tolerances.
- The Operator removes scraps of metal from the press with a chisel. Advises Supervisor or Maintenance when the press needs service.
- Lubricates equipment and performs light periodic maintenance. Able to clear machine jams and make minor machine adjustments. Troubleshoot and identify press malfunctions. Possess a working knowledge of methods and techniques of machinery setup.
- Maintains a clean and orderly workplace.
- Operates the extrusion press to meet daily output goals and always maintain efficiency goals. Monitors equipment to ensure maximum uptime.
- Manufactures quality extrusions to meet production schedule quantities and dates and audits parts throughout the manufacturing process to meet quality standards.
- Develop an understanding of and continuously improve the performance of the aluminum extrusion manufacturing process.
- Work cooperatively with other operators and supervisors to achieve maximum production capabilities.
- Observe safety rules and practices and report any unsafe acts or conditions to the Supervisor.
- Ensures all paperwork, pull / setup sheets, check sheets, and quality documents are completed and turned in on time.
- Maintain clean, safe, well-organized workstation and surrounding area.
- Consistently adhere to and support company policies and procedures, including safety, environmental, and quality standards.
