Quality Assurance Technician, 2nd Shift (PM)

The Quality Assurance Technician will monitor operations to ensure compliance and production standards are met. This includes inspection and verification activities in the manufacturing process all while ensuring the highest quality and food safety guidelines. They will identify any issues and will report inspections, auditing reports, and or records to management.
Pay Rate:
  • $25.00/ hour
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Food Safety & Safety: Always perform tasks according to Safety and Food Safety Standards.
    • Participate in safety training programs and contribute to the development of safety initiatives to promote a culture of safety.
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (SQF, GMP, HACCP, OSHA) and company policies and trainings related to food safety, sanitation, and environmental regulations (e.g., HACCP, Food Safety, GMP’s, Food Fraud/Defense, Allergens, Organic, Gluten Free)
  • Maintains QA leadership informed of all activities which impinge on Quality Assurance and production issues.
  • Assists in the company Metal Detection Program.
  • Assists with the Weight Control Program.
  • Assists in enforcing GMP’s. Reports on deficiencies to department supervisors
  • Assists in enforcing Product Specifications.
  • Inspects all incoming raw materials for compliance with company policies.
  • Conducts daily “Preoperational Inspections” (PRE-OP) when needed.
  • Assists with enforcing company’s “Hold and Release Program”.
  • Assists with Pest Control Program.
  • Assists with Recall Program.
  • Assists with Quality Control/Assurance Processes and Procedures.
  • Assists with waste reduction program.
  • Must be familiar with the company line of products to recognize their different specifications and verify they are meeting quality and food safety standards.
  • Assists in training employees with Quality and Food Safety Procedures.
  • Promotes and reinforces a positive food safety culture throughout the plant.
  • Assists with product-handling requirements.
  • Assists with enforcing production floor policies and procedures.
  • Actively enforces housekeeping rules.
  • Assists with maintaining chemicals and all containers properly labeled.
  • Maintains a firm safety discipline and reports unsafe acts and conditions.
  • Assists in ensuring the proper use of materials; may offer feedback to employees on their proper use to avoid waste.
  • Maintains first-rate and meaningful reports and documentation.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Education/Certifications and Experience:
  • Highschool diploma or GED, required.
  • 2 years’ experience in Manufacturing QC/QA preferred.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in Food Manufacturing or related industry.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Must be Bilingual (English and Spanish).
  • Must have proficient communications skills both verbal and written.
  • Must have proficient math skills.
  • Must have proficient analytical skills.
  • Must have proficient problem-solving skills.
  • Must have proficient multi-tasking skills.
  • Must have proficient organizational skills.
  • Must have above average interpersonal skills.
  • Must be an excellent ‘team player’.
  • Must have good judgment and decisiveness.
  • Must be reliable and prompt with all work activities and duties.
  • Must have proficient Computer skills.
  • Experience in USDA, FDA, CA Dept. of Food & Agriculture a plus
  • Experience in Kosher, Organic and AIB program a plus
  • Shall be neat, tidy, organized, and energetic.
  • Ability to perform work duties under demanding and spur-of-the-moment working conditions.
  • Must possess the ability to keep accurate daily, weekly reports.
  • Must be able to manage company confidential information.
  • Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work with little or no supervision.
  • Must be reliable, punctual and have schedule flexibility including working weekends, Holidays, and off-shifts as needed.
  • Must be able to comply with company attendance and punctuality policy.
  • Must be able to fulfill essential job functions in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Must adhere to a drug and alcohol zero tolerance policy.
  • Must be able to enforce, comply with and follow all food safety, and third-party certification policies (SQF, Gluten-Free and Organic, etc.)

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
  • Position requires the ability to walk around the office and plant; utilizing fine dexterity; continual bending, kneeling, squatting, stooping, reaching, pulling, pushing, and lifting up-to 35 lbs.
  • Exposed to cool, hot temperatures and noise.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Temperatures ranging to very warm conditions.
  • Loud noises generated from equipment.
