Employment Type: Part time Shift: Night Shift Description: 4 South is a 36-bed medical intermediate/step down unit that cares for adult and geriatric populations of patients who have a multitude of medical diagnoses. We specialize in peritoneal dialysis and respiratory illness. Other common patient diagnosis include, but are not limited to, Heart Failure, Non ST Elevation MI, End Stage Renal Disease, Sepsis, COPD, and Respiratory Failure. 4 south is a telemetry monitored unit. We also offer virtual nursing and camera monitoring in all rooms. Commitment of four 12-hour shifts per month The Nurse Extern functions as a collaborative member of the health care team in partnership with and under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN). Utilizing principles of Relationship-based Care, performs basic direct patient care to a specific group of patients. Actively supports the activities of the unit-based shared governance council. Promotes organizational commitment and excellence in the patient care experience, and in compliance with the standards of professional behavior within nursing. REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE Education/ Experience: Currently attending and in good standing at an accredited school of nursing. Must maintain continuous "active" student status. Must have successfully completed two (2) clinical nursing rotations, of which one was a Medical/Surgical rotation. Certification/Licensure Current BLS (Basic Life Support Certification) certification.
