We are looking for an experienced Interior Designer to join our team as an independent contractor on a flexible, project-based basis. This role is ideal for someone highly organized, technically skilled in construction documentation, and comfortable managing their own schedule.

Mia Sandmark Design is a boutique interior design firm specializing in high-end residential and boutique hospitality projects across the Bay Area and beyond. Our work blends Scandinavian principles with modern aesthetics, creating interiors that are livable, layered and refined. We collaborate closely with architects, builders, and artisans to execute distinctive, detail-driven designs.
Responsibilities
- Lead design projects from concept to completion in collaboration with principal designer.
- Create floor plans, elevations, and construction drawings in AutoCAD (SketchUp/Revit a plus).
- Manage FF&E sourcing and procurement, including vendor coordination and budget tracking.
- Develop mood boards, material palettes, and design presentations in Canva for client review.
- Attend client meetings, site visits, and contractor/vendor coordination meetings as needed.
- Produce detailed design documentation, including finish schedules and furniture plans.
- Research and source high-end materials, finishes, and custom furnishings.
- Travel to project sites in Sonoma, Napa, Marin, and the greater Bay Area as needed.
Requirements
- 3 years of experience at a high-end residential or boutique hospitality design firm.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Canva (SketchUp, Revit, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator a plus).
- Strong technical skills in construction documentation, elevations, and space planning.
- Extensive experience with materials, finishes, textiles, and FF&E procurement.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines independently.
- Excellent client communication and presentation skills.
- Knowledge of vendors, showrooms, and custom fabricators.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to travel for site visits.
This is a 1099 contractor role, not an entry-level position.
