Miami Children's Museum is looking for a new Public Programs Manager to join their team!
Miami Children’s Museum is a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational institution, which meets the needs of all children in our multicultural community. The Museum offers interactive exhibits, programs and learning materials related to arts, culture and our community. Miami Children’s Museum encourages visitors of all ages to play, learn, imagine and create together.
The Public Programs Manager is responsible for the delivery of high quality, play-based, educational experiences to the museum guests. The Public Programs Evaluator is responsible for the evaluation of all public programs and the Museum Educators who lead these programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Maintain a strong presence on the Museum floor alongside the Museum Educators.
- Promote fun, positive visitor experience and high energy guest interaction and engagement
- Create and implement tools and methods for evaluation of programs.
- Observe visitors’ use of exhibits and programs and interview visitors regarding their experiences.
- Evaluate the performance and delivery of all public programs. Work with the Associate
- Director Public Programs and Outreach to institute any program changes or enhancements that should be made based on visitor feedback, survey data, and evaluations.
- Assist with the interviewing, hiring, training, and supervising of Museum Educators, Interns, and Volunteers.
- Manage and keep inventory of all program supplies. Inform the Associate Director of Public Programs and Outreach when additional supplies need to be ordered.
- Have a good understanding of informal learning in the children’s museum field to help develop innovative programs.
- Serve as Floor Manager and supervise Museum Educators, Interns, and Volunteers.
- Other duties as assigned.
- A BA in Early Childhood Education, Art Education, or Museum Studies.
- Relevant experience in the design and delivery of educational programs for children.
- Experience working in museums is preferred.
- Knowledge of Florida educational standards.
- Sound verbal and writing skills.
- English and Spanish fluency preferred.
