As the Senior Director of External Relations, you will play a key role in driving the museum's growth and sustainability by shaping and executing strategies to increase funding, visibility, and community engagement. This newly created position offers an exciting opportunity to lead impactful initiatives and collaborate with passionate teams to further our mission of empowering children through hands-on learning.
We are seeking a Senior Director of External Relations to lead fundraising, marketing, and public relations efforts. Reporting to the Executive Director & CEO, this role will focus on securing funding (75%) and managing marketing/PR activities (25%) to elevate our brand and mission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fundraising: Develop and implement fundraising strategies, including donor solicitation and stewardship across individuals, corporations, foundations, and government sectors.
- Communications: Oversee comprehensive communications, PR, and social media strategies to enhance visibility.
- Grant Management: Support the Data and Grants Manager in ensuring grant compliance and documentation.
- Outreach: Lead outreach strategy, collaborate with Museum Experience and Performing & Visual Arts Director to engage statewide partners.
- 5-7 years of experience in management, fundraising, and business development.
- Proven track record in securing major gifts, event management, and strategic communications.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Technical proficiency with Altru, Microsoft Office, and Excel.
- Ability to adapt to dynamic environments and a commitment to cultural and organizational values.
This position reports directly to the Executive Director.
