Job Summary

This position requires an innovative and highly collaborative person who embodies our mission and is passionate about working with our students and faculty. This individual will grow their practice through a partnership with mentor teachers and administration. This candidate is qualified or earning qualifications in teaching. The primary role is to support students in providing personalized, inquiry-based learning opportunities. This person needs to be passionate about growing their professional teaching practice. Working as part of a team is crucial to each students social, emotional, and academic success. The ideal candidate will continually evolve the designing, organizing, and implementing of relevant curriculum in interdisciplinary ways.

Essential Functions And Tasks

  • Displays a genuine disposition for engaging students and promoting deep understanding through meaningful learning.
  • Be an integral part of the learning community and viewed as an ongoing learner who is fully engaged in professional growth.
  • Demonstrates a desire for feedback and a dedication to excellence.
  • Collaborates with lead teachers to plan and teach units that encompass hands-on exploration and inquiry process skills using the Understanding by Design Model of instruction.
  • Delivers curriculum developed by the Department Chair and co-teach a class.
  • Maintains an optimal disposition that embodies practice of inherent pedagogies in teaching students.
  • Demonstrates growing expertise in a variety of presentation modes that accommodate different learning styles and purposefully generate opportunities for students to interact and share ideas with their peers.
  • Helps set up and clean up science labs.
  • Substitutes for classes periodically.
  • Works with Administration to build expertise.
  • Consistently demonstrate a high degree of professionalism, including accountable conversations that promotes the schools core values.
  • Perform supervisory duties as assigned.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Implement relevant technology.
  • Engage in continual professional growth.
  • Contribute to a dynamic community by learning and teaching.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Bachelors Degree in Science, Math, or relevant Education or Technology.
  • A lifelong learner willing to balance past experience with the demands of a new environment.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, ensuring on-time delivery, accuracy, and end-user satisfaction is expected.
  • A willingness to understand and support the schools mission and vision, as well as recognize the impact the climate and culture of the school have on the work of the School.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the needs of various constituencies within the school community and the skills and attitude to deliver an exemplary experience to all stakeholders.
  • Work in a fast-paced, stressful environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Continually pursues excellence.

  • Attend meetings, in-service or trainings required of this position that may/may not be during hours.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices, and other office equipment, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Work in varied and extreme weather conditions, including extreme heat.
