Miami Country Day School has an immediate opening for an enthusiastic and creative educator to fill the role of Upper School Impact Studio Interdisciplinary Teacher. Impact Studio is an interdisciplinary department offering innovative elective courses. Students in Impact Studio connect with experts, explore their interests, and create projects that positively impact their community. This position involves co-teaching three elective courses, supporting student internships, and co-designing curriculum.
The ideal candidate will be a strong team player, eager to contribute to the success of existing courses such as "Impact of Fashion Design I: Crafting Your Personal Style" and "Happiness Unveiled: Exploring the Science of Well-Being." A successful candidate will be open to developing new skills relevant to these course offerings.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND TASKS:
- Learn all aspects of a studio-based program and model of interdisciplinary, collaborative teaching and learning
- Collaborate with Impact Studio teachers and Chair in developing new courses with student feedback
- Collaborate with Impact Studio teachers and Chair to develop units, daily lessons, and rubrics for assessments
- Travel with Impact Studio teachers and/or Chair for day trips and overnight trips
- Co-teach in the classroom
- Engage in continual professional growth organized and funded by MCDS
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
- Bachelor’s degree; BFA, BE, or BA preferred
- Demonstrates commitment to working as part of a team
- Demonstrates interest in developing and co-teaching courses that are interdisciplinary and project-based
- Demonstrates interest in working outside of the classroom to connect with experts in the field to enrich student experience
- Collaborate with students and colleagues to provide and receive constructive feedback
