CLASSIFICATION PURPOSE
The purpose of the Attorney is to provide non-bias legal advice and representation to clients who are seeking and maintaining child support orders.
JOB DUTIES
- Independently drafts various legal documents, e.g., pleadings, legal briefs, and memoranda. Conducts legal research. Provides professional legal advice and representation to ensure support orders are appropriately established and enforced. Conducts a review of all pending support actions; monitors magistrate reports and journal entries to facilitate appropriate objectives and appeals within legally allowable time frames. [45%]
- Prepares IV-D child support cases for hearing or trial and independently tries cases before a judge or magistrate. Examines witnesses, presents legal arguments and evidence, conducts pre-hearing conferences, negotiates settlements, and any other activities relating to paternity, Uniform Interstate Family Support Act (UIFSA), wage withholding, and contempt of court. - Reviews agency child support policies and procedures for legal implications; answers inquiries from officials, members of the public, and CSEA staff. Other related duties as assigned. Must demonstrate regular and predictable attendance. Admission to the Bar per Section 4705.01 of the ORC with no disciplinary or administrative sanction by the Supreme Court pursuant to Gov. Bar R. V and VI. [10%]

MINIMUM CLASS QUALIFICATIONS FOR EMPLOYMENT
Admission to the Ohio Bar per section 4705.01 of the Revised Code, plus experience with child support or administrative hearings.
